Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Coming Soon
World communications industry leader Samsung keeps on rushing in the smartphone sector's pursuit. Yet only the few ones were lucky to get hold of Samsung Galaxy S5, while Samsung Galaxy S6 is about to hit the stores.
This time Samsung presented two brand new devices off the reel: Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
Design
The very first impression of Galaxy S6 design leaves only one word in your head – elegance. The smartphone's exterior is quite reserved. S6 has metal casing with the edges framed into the aluminium finishing. The smartphone is protected with Gorilla Glass 4 from the surface scratches and dents. The glass cover adds special metallic tinge to the body. The only drawback of the glassy coating is that fingerprints are left visible. The smartphone is eye-catching and feels quite comfortable in hands.
Galaxy S6 Edge design is slightly different from the design of S6 and, to tell the truth, looks more interesting. The design signature of S6 Edge is the curvy front edge of the screen.
Both smartphones are quite compact. The width, the height and the thickness of Galaxy S6 are 143.4×70.5×6.8 mm respectively, and the weight is 138 gramm. In its turn, Galaxy S6 Edge is slightly less heavy with 132 gramms of weight, and its external parameters are also slightly smaller -142.1х70.1х7 mm.
Both models will be available in 5 colors: white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum, green emerald and blue topaz.
The right side has NanoSIM-card slot and the power button. The volume key is placed on the left side surface. The IR-port for household appliances control is located on the top. One of the microphones is placed at the top and the other is at the bottom side of the smartphone. There are also Micro-USB-port (USB 2.0), 3.5 mm connector for headset or headphones, and the speaker.
LCD
This South-Korean company has always been known for the best screens installed into their devices. The latest smartphones received Super AMOLED LCDs with the diagonal of 5.1 inches, the resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels 577 ppi and the automatic brightness control.
AMOLED LCDs were previously known for their precise color rendering, brightness and readability of text under the direct sun light. This time the screen quality has made a step further, especially in the backlight brightness. Now you can read from the screen without any problem under the direct sunlight.
Camera
First of all, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have absolutely identical cameras. The smartphones have 16-megapixel Sony IMX240 BSI-module on board with the image stabilization, the aperture of f 1.9-2.2 and the digital 8× zoom.
Frontal 5 megapixel camera makes perfect selfies and guarantees high-quality video calls. Even in poor lighting, the camera takes images of decent quality. Using powerful CPU, the smartphone smoothly records 4K-videos, and the both cameras are capable of producing FullHD videos. There are, also, the high-speed camera shooting and the slow-motion recording at 240 frames per second.
Under-the-Hood
Galaxy S6 received 8-core Exynos 7420 CPU (4 Cortex-A53 cores, 4 Cortex A57 cores) with Mali-T760 graphical processing unit. As of today, this is the fastest processor among the CPUs available on the market.
The device received 3 GB of ROM with the maximum, at the moment, bandwidth of 3.2 GB/s (64 bit). The company shall market the models with 32, 64 and 128 GBs of the internal memory capacity.
The combination of Exynos 7420 chipset and UFS 2.0 memory makes this device incredibly fast.
For the new Galaxy smartphone series operation system, the manufacturer used Android 5.0 Lollipop with the updated TouchWiz interface.
The developers have created comfortable, multifunctional and yet minimalistic design.
Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have 9 inbuilt sensors. The both models got fingerprint scanner and the pulsometer with the improved sensitivity.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy S6 comes equipped with the 2550 mAh rechargeable battery, Galaxy S6 Edge – with the 2600 mAh rechargeable battery. Moreover, the new flagship has the magnetic charging feature. No need to buy extra back cover. In order to get the smartphone charged you may take any standard wireless charging plate.
As usual, the price of the smartphone shall depend on the internal memory capacity. Therefore, the prices of Galaxy S6 models are expected to be: 32GB - 699 Euros, 64GB - 799 Euros, 128GB - 899 Euros.
Galaxy S6 Edge, due to its original design shall cost a bit more: 32GB - 849 Euros, 64GB - 949 Euros, 128GB - 1049 Euros.
The Samsung spokesmen already stated that the preorders of the new flagship have already exceeded 20 millions of copies. Experts expect sales of the flagships to overtop 55 millions of copies in 2015. Should their forecast become real, after all the hardships the company went through the last year, Samsung will recover its lost positions on mobile devices market.
World sales of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge shall be launched on 10 April 2015.
