The meaning of the famous brand Apple is obviously an apple, as a fruit. Everyone may guess it regardless of knowing English or not, just look at the company's logo. But there are different stories of the name's origins. The first one states that the company founders were not able to think out the name for their business, and then emphatic Steve Jobs delivered an ultimatum - "I will name the company 'Apple' if you not come up with anything else till 5 o'clock". The other story says that Steve Jobs offered such a name because Apple's phone number would appear before Atari's in phone book. And the last version says that Apple was the first company that decided to recycle old component parts for the new ones, without throwing anything away. In that case produced computers would be considered as ecologically clean.

The next company - ASUS was founded in Taiwan islands by four former engineers. The company's name comes from English "pegasus" (winged horse in Greek mythology), but for having a top position in alphabetical order it was decided to take the first three letters off and it came out as ASUS. The other version of its name origin says that ASUS in Chinese language means "Big China" or "big nation of China". But there is also a third story, and it gives one more version of translation - "AS US" what obviously means 'as us' (lets be with us). Chinese people are lucky - translate as you wish, not a lot of people would doubt Chinese language.
